20-minute Vegetable & Char Sui Stir Fry Recipe
Stir-fries are usually fast – perfect for weeknight meals. And they are healthy and delicious. This 20-minute Vegetable & Char Sui Stir Fry is especially quick. You can use any vegetables you happen to have in your fridge, but the combination in the recipe is very good. You can also change the flavor by using different Asian spices. There are several good ones available at the grocery stores nowadays.

Char Siu Pork is available at some grocery and warehouse stores, but it is easy to make at home. I like to keep it on hand in my freezer so it’s available to me at all times.

4 Servings

1 cup baby carrots
1/2 pound sliced mushrooms
1 cup water
2 teaspoons granular chicken bouillon

1 pound fresh asparagus, snapped and cut diagonally in 1" pieces
1 tablespoon Asian Seasoning, such as Simply Asia Sweet Ginger Garlic

1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup cold water

3-4 ounces Chinese Style Barbecue Pork, sliced
2 Roma tomatoes, quartered and cut into 1/2" pieces

2 teaspoons sesame seeds

Cooked rice

  1. Place the carrots in a large skillet; add the water, turn the heat to high, and let the carrots cook 3-4 minutes or until just less than crisp-tender.
  2. Stir in the mushrooms, granular bouillon, and Asian seasoning.
  3. Stir over high heat for 1 minute; add the asparagus and stir-fry until the liquid is almost absorbed and the asparagus is crisp-tender.
  4. Mix the soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and cold water; pour over the vegetable mixture.
  5. Stir in the barbecue pork and tomatoes.
  6. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens and the pork and tomatoes are heated through.
  7. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve immediately over cooked rice.
